Stephen hails national drive to get "everyone in" for Christmas

East Ham is set to receive funding as part of a national £442 million programme to support people sleeping rough and help those at risk of homelessness access safe accommodation and practical support.

The funding will help provide emergency accommodation this winter, alongside support with housing, health and other needs. It will also contribute towards longer-term housing solutions and specialist services designed to help people maintain stable accommodation.

Speaking about the announcement, Stephen said: “Nobody should be forced to sleep rough. This funding will help ensure people facing homelessness can access accommodation and the support they need to rebuild their lives.

"I am pleased that East Ham will receive this additional support and I look forward to seeing it make a difference for local residents."

The programme will be delivered through councils, mayoral authorities, charities and community organisations. Guidance has also been issued to help local areas provide support tailored to local needs, including for women and other vulnerable groups experiencing homelessness.

Further information on local funding allocations is available from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
