Stephen to attend briefing by UN Special Rapporteur

Stephen has agreed to attending a briefing jointly hosted by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, War on Want, and Campaign Against Arms Trade. The event in on 10 June. Those speaking include

  • Michael Lynk, UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory

  • Ryvka Barnard, Head of Civic Space at War on Want; and

  • Ben Jamal, Director of Palestine Solidarity Campaign

MPs and campaigners will the UK's role and influence in the region, and what tools Ministers have for upholding international law.

Speaking in advance of the event, Stephen said “The ceasefire in Gaza is welcomed – there is no military solution to this conflict. We must now ensure the UK plays a meaningful role in a peace process that ensures a sovereign Palestinian state alongside a safe, secure Israel.

“I hope we will consider how the UK can do this at the briefing.”
