Stephen welcomes Medical Visa Scheme for Gazan Children

Stephen has welcomed the Government’s decision to begin issuing visas for critically injured and seriously ill children from Gaza to receive specialist medical treatment in the UK. The move follows sustained efforts by MPs, charities, and medical professionals to ensure urgent care is made available to those in need. Stephen first raised this issue with Ministers more then eighteen months ago.

Hospitals in Gaza have faced immense pressure, and many children require complex treatment that is not currently available locally. The UK’s world-class medical expertise can play a vital role in supporting these young patients.

Stephen has now written to the Foreign Secretary to express his support for the scheme and to encourage continued collaboration with medical charities and international partners to ensure more children can benefit.

Speaking about the scheme, Stephen said: “This is a compassionate and important step. I commend the Government for responding to the calls of campaigners and taking action to help children in desperate need of medical care.”
