Stephen seeks publication of legal advice

Stephen has asked the Attorney General, Victoria Prentis, to publish the legal advice it has received relating to whether Israel has failed to meet its legal obligations under international Law.

Stephen sent the letter after meeting with the UN Special Rapporteur for Human Rights, Ben Saul. Mr Saul suggested that the Israel’s restrictions on humanitarian aid may amount to a war crime. He went on to suggest that the UK government’s refusal to make available to all MPs the legal advice it has received could mean Ministers and MPs are complicit in any perceived violations of international law.

Update [22 April 2024]: The Attorney General has replied. It can be read here.
