Stephen attends lobby with East Ham residents

Stephen has met with a number of East Ham residents who attended a lobby organised by the charity, the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign (PSC).

The event provided an opportunity for constituents to speak directly with Stephen about the situation in Gaza. The lobby came on the day that the UK convened a meeting of the UN Security Council in response to the intolerable civilian suffering and humanitarian need in the region.

Stephen assured his constituents that the UK Government is continuing to raise its concerns with the Israeli Government and work with international partners to bring about an end to the hostilities in Gaza. He also clarified his position against any efforts to reduce the size of Palestinian territory in either Gaza or the West Bank.

Speaking afterards, Stephen said β€œThe breakdown of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas and the return to hostilities and bloodshed in Gaza is deeply troubling. I urgently want to see a return to a ceasefire. I know the UK Government is working hard to encourage all parties to return to negotiations.”
