Stephen has attended Through Their Eyes earlier this week — a moving exhibition that brought to life the experiences, hopes, and dreams of Palestinian children through their own photography, drawings, and words.

The event offered a moment of reflection on childhoods shaped by conflict and displacement. One of the children featured, Rawan, who dreams of becoming a dietitian, said: “This project enabled me to document my memories and enrich my skills. I was able to show what I hope to achieve one day. It meant a lot to me. I hope my country enjoys freedom and peace.”

The exhibition also included a short film featuring the children’s mothers, who shared their stories of seeking refuge in Cairo and the challenges they continue to face.

Speaking after the event, Stephen said: “This was a deeply moving and important exhibition. It is vital that we listen to the voices of children affected by conflict — not only to understand their suffering, but to recognise their resilience and humanity. I will continue to raise these issues in Parliament and advocate for urgent humanitarian support.”

The event comes amid growing concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. All of Gaza’s 1.1 million children have been affected by the ongoing conflict, with nearly every child now at risk of famine. Schools have been destroyed or turned into overcrowded shelters, and fuel shortages have left hospitals and water systems on the brink of collapse.

Save the Children’s Gaza Child Protection Manager, Ali Shaqaliah, described the situation starkly: “In Gaza, children’s games have changed… Instead of running for fun, they run from the sound of bombs. Childhood in Gaza isn’t just shrinking, it’s being erased.”

Stephen continues to support calls for an immediate ceasefire and the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to protect children and families in Gaza.
