Stephen write to Prime Minister following developments

Stephen has written to the Prime Minister setting out further measures which the government can take to help Palestinians trapped in Gaza.

In his letter, Stephen quoted the UN Human Rights Chief, Volker Türk, who said “...the imposition of sieges [in Gaza] endanger the lives of civilians by depriving them of goods essential for their survival is prohibited under international humanitarian law.”

The letter called for a cessation of hostilities between the two countries and maintenance of an international humanitarian corridor through the Rafah crossing.  It asked too whether the Prime Minister would mobilise the UK Emergency Medical Team, and whether the United Nations Relief and Works Agency reverse cuts to Palestinian health workers’ salaries via the PEGASE mechanism.
