Stephen Timms Visit to Essex Primary School (11/12/09)

Visiting Essex Primary SchoolStephen Timms, MP for East Ham visited Essex Primary School to view the extensive refurbishment and building works currently underway at the school. Members of the Jerram Falkus construction team explained the procedure involved in the transformation of the school which will include new classrooms, specialist rooms and offices and a landscaped playground.

Commenting about extension, Rosie Cowan, Head Teacher at Essex Primary said: "We are very excited about the new-build but we must not underestimate how much planning and commitment all staff are demonstrating so that we have business as usual!"

Speaking after the visit, Mr Timms said:  "It was a pleasure to visit Essex Primary School and to talk with staff and students.  I was impressed at the way the students at the school were getting on with things as normal, despite not having access to the facilities they had before the building work started.  I was delighted to see how much progress had been made on the building work, and the good relationship between the builders and the school.  I look forward to its completion when the students of Essex Primary School will have access to better classrooms, and a more modern playground and facilities."
