Twice a year I organise a week long Politics School to give young people in Newham a practical insight into politics at national, local and grass roots levels.

A dozen 16-18 year olds get the opportunity to work with my office in Westminster and experience civic life at the Council and in Newham. During the week students enjoy access to a number of experienced professionals from the political world and will receive introductory training in public speaking, advocacy and campaigning.

I am running my sixth Politics School this February. Graduates of the programme will gain a solid understanding of the political process and how they can make a meaningful contribution to that process. With the opportunity to see 'behind the scenes' in parliament and to gain valuable experience at a  young age, this is an opportunity not to be missed!
