    Stephen Timms, MP for East Ham, visited Gallions Primary School last Friday, 16 July. Along with discussing the school’s future goals and ambitions, the visit allowed Mr Timms to congratulate pupils and staff on their ‘Arts Extravaganza’ which was held on that day. On his arrival, Mr Timms was met by Head teacher Paul Jackson and talked about the school’s recent progress. Mr Timms presented prizes to the brother and sister team who were winners of the “Gallions’ Got Talent” competition, and also spent time speaking to parents and staff at the school.     On the 7th July 2010 Stephen Timms, the Member of Parliament for East Ham, attended a day of remembrance at Newham General Hospital for the victims of the 7/7 attacks. The event was organised by Bridge Builders in Unity, a group that aims to inspire young people to utilise their energies in positive ways in their community. The event was held in Health Central, the recently redeveloped relaxation area at the hospital, and was attended by local community leaders, Councillors, and Newham University Hospital Trust (NUHT) staff.   • Stephen Timms blasts “devastating” education cuts (06/07/10)
    Stephen Timms, MP for East Ham, today responded angrily to the Government’s cancellation of Newham school building projects. Michael Gove, Education Secretary, announced the cancellation of crucial rebuilding plans for fourteen schools in Newham, including Kingsford School, Little Ilford School and Plashet School. Mr Timms had been recently invited to discuss the proposals to re-develop Plashet School. And last weekend he was at Little Ilford School fete and discussed the proposals informally with the Head Teacher.     Stephen Timms, Member of Parliament for East Ham, spoke today to Ian Bacon, the President of Tate & Lyle Sugar in Silvertown. This followed Tate & Lyle’s announcement that it had agreed a deal to sell its sugar business to American Sugar Refining, North America’s largest cane sugar, for £211m.   • Stephen Timms recovering well (21/05/10)
    Stephen Timms, Member of Parliament for East Ham, who was stabbed twice in the abdomen by a constituent at his advice surgery last Friday, is recovering well. He was discharged from the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel on Wednesday 19 April after a five day stay. Mr Timms has been advised by doctors to take a period of leave. The newly planted Dove Tree commemorates the life and work of Jim Coe, former President of the Monega Association.
