Stephen Timms today joined members of the SKS Swaminarayan Hindu Temple at a car wash to raise money for the victims of the Nepal earthquake. In total £1,809 was raised for the Disasters Emergency Committee appeal.

During the afternoon, members of the  SKS Swaminarayan Hindu Temple washed more than 120 cars at the Shaftesbury Road car park, in Forest Gate.

Speaking afterwards, Stephen said: "I was delighted to come along today and help out. We managed to raise an excellent total which will go towards helping some of those affected by the devastating earthquake which happened a few weeks ago. "
