Last night, Newham Council granted planning permission for the development of London City Airport, as well as a 260-bedroom hotel. Speaking afterwards, Stephen said:
“I welcome last night’s decision by Newham Council to grant London City Airport’s planning application. The expansion will be a real boost to the area. It will create around 2,000 new jobs, and the Council’s job-brokering scheme, Workplace, will support local residents to gain entry to them.
“I also recognise the real concerns of local residents. I welcome that the conditions set out by Newham Council - and agreed by the airport - will protect people living in and around the airport
“London City Airport has helped drive the economy in the capital, and will be increasingly important as London continues to move east.”
