Stephen Timms, Member of Parliament for East Ham, was treated to a guided tour of the new BT Sport studios in Stratford today. He was accompanied on the tour by Simon Green, Chief Executive of BT Sport, Jamie Hindbaugh, Chief Operating Officer, and Tim O’Sullivan, BT’s Director of Public Affairs.
The studios, in the Olympic Park Broadcast Centre, became BT Sport’s production hub and the home of its new sports channels this summer. The centre has three TV studios, 20 editing suites and an audience holding area. The studios are based in the newly created ‘iCity’, a new digital quarter for London that will ‘support the growth of the flourishing digital and creative industries. Situated on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and in the heart of East London’s creative scene, iCITY will be a world-leading centre of innovation, education and enterprise.’
Speaking after the visit, Stephen said “The tour around the centre was terrific! The facilities are first class and I am delighted BT Sport has chosen to set up shop in the heart of the Olympic Park, further building on the sporting legacy of London 2012. BT Sport’s investment here – and the 400 jobs they have created – will help establish a vibrant new media cluster in our part of London.”
