Stephen Timms MP enjoyed a delicious slice of home-made cheesecake at the High Street North branch of Barclays Bank on Friday 28th September all in aid of Macmillan’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’. The event was one of several coffee mornings happening across East Ham to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, and cakes were provided by Barclays staff.
The annual ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ is Macmillan’s flagship fundraising event and is now in its 22ndyear. Volunteers from the local community come together to hold coffee mornings where donations made for coffee and cake go straight to Macmillan.
Coffee mornings are still going on all over the UK - and even further afield – and so far the events have raised an impressive £1,072,892.
After the event, Stephen said: “The morning was a great success. Macmillan’s work in supporting those who have seen their lives devastated by cancer is inspiring. I was delighted to lend my support again to their ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ initiative. The way in which volunteers and local businesses come together to support those in desperate need is wonderful, long may it continue.”
