Stephen Timms, Member of Parliament for East Ham, today attended an assembly at Dersingham Infant School to celebrate the Olympic Games.

The assembly saw the pupils at Dersingham Infant School preparing to welcome residents from competing nations into Newham through the celebration of different cultures. They began by hosting a parade of national flags, uniting different parts of the world together to rejoice in the historical games. The pupils then turned to the celebration of multiculturalism which Newham will witness with the arrival of the Olympic Games. The assembly was full of colours, music and excitement.

Speaking after the assembly at Dersingham Infant School, Stephen Timms said: “It was a fantastic assembly, underlining that Newham is ready to welcome visitors to the UK for a truly enjoyable and inspiring Olympic Games.  The children at Dersingham clearly understood the positive impact these Games can have on Newham, and worked hard to present us with an entertaining assembly.”
