Stephen Timms MP today attended the opening ceremony of the new Key Stage 2 classroom and concert hall at Essex Primary School. The opening was attended by pupils, parents, teachers and representatives from the contractors, Jerram Falkus. Mr Timms spent time talking to some of the children who have now moved into their new classrooms.

After cutting the ribbon to officially open the new classrooms and concert hall, the guests were treated to a concert entitled “Aspiration and Inspiration” featuring pupils from year 4 and lead by professional musician, Alex Wilson.

Impressed by both the concert and the facilities, Mr Timms commented: “Today was a very special day for all those involved with Essex Primary School.  The children were excited by the improvements in their school.  It is vital that we continue investing in our children and in their schools.  We know that bright, new, spacious and warm buildings – such as those here at Essex Primary - help a child’s education. That is why the Government’s decisions to scrap Labour’s Building Schools for the Future programme is so regrettable.”
