Stephen Timms, the Member of Parliament for East Ham, visited St Winefride’s Primary School where he was ‘grilled’ by members of the school Council. Mr Timms was asked a what he is doing to help the local area, and if he had ever met Barack Obama – the answer was yes!

Speaking afterwards, Mr Timms said: “I was impressed by the children’s questions. They are already gaining an experience of politics by serving on their school council. I am very pleased that there are many schools, like St Winefride’s that encourage children – who will the voters and politicians of the future - to be more politically and socially aware.”
