Stephen Timms MP joined Mayor, Sir Robin Wales and a number of pupils and teachers, for the official opening of the Sandringham Family Centre at Sandringham Primary School.
On arriving, Mr Timms was met by the children who attend Sandringham school. The children sang a song called Colours before Mr Timms and Sir Robin were walked through the new centre for the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon.
The new Family Centre is part of the extended schools programme. Part of the new building will be used as a crèche enabling parents to have their children looked after whilst they take classes and workshops on a wide range of subjects, such as positive parenting, English as a second language and beauty therapy workshops.
Speaking afterwards, Mr Timms said: “I was delighted to attend the opening of the new Family Centre at Sandringham Primary School. The building is very impressive, and very well equipped. Its only a shame that – with the background of sharp cuts – we won’t be seeing more projects like this one for some time.”
