Stephen Timms joined with the Mayor of Newham, Sir Robin Wales, West Ham co-Chairman David Gold and cricketer Graham Gooch to lend their support to West Ham United FC’s bid to move into the Olympic Stadium after 2012.

The group met on the day that West Ham submitted their bid to manage the stadium to the Olympic Park Legacy Company.  Final submissions from Tottenham Hotspur were also received today ahead of a decision next week.

Speaking afterwards, Mr Timms said: “I am delighted that West Ham has submitted this bid. It is a strong bid which has support from athletes, the local community and politicians both here and abroad.

“We must now await the decision of the Olympic Park Legacy Company. But as a local MP and supporter of West Ham, I hope that we will be celebrating a successful bid this time next week.”
