    When Gordon Brown became Prime Minister he appointed six new Vice Chairs of the Labour Party. I was delighted to have been appointed Vice Chair with special responsibility for Faith Groups. As Vice Chair, it is my responsibility to help develop the Party's links with faith groups. The early Labour Party had deep roots in the Church, and the influence of faith remains with us today.     In my role as a Government advisor on faith issues and the Labour Party’s Vice-Chair for faith groups, I recently held a roundtable discussion with Think Jewish London, a cross-communal think tank. The discussion focussed on cohesion, citizenship and the role of faith in public policy. The group which was set up by London Jewish Forum last year is made up of academics, policy thinkers, community, interfaith and human rights activists including leading Reform, Orthodox and Haredi thinkers.
