This morning I paid a visit to Little Ilford School, where I took part in a project that some of the students were undertaking, about recreational facilities in the Borough. Later in the day I attended and spoke at a meeting of the Manor Park Branch of the TGWU (Retired Members Association), along with local Councillor Christine Bowden. After that I paid a visit to the Tyndale Academy - a privately run tuition group in Forest Gate - to find out more about their work, and to speak to the students about my role as an MP. In the afternoon I was given a tour of the new recycling and waste management facility that is being constructed by Shanks Waste Solutions on Jenkins Lane. This new facility, which is due to open later this year will handle all of Newham's recycling. Next I visited Kingsford Community School, where I took part in a Badminton lesson, that had been arranged by the Victoria Institute for Sport which was offering students free professional coaching. In the evening I held a constituency surgery in East Ham, and then attended 'Hands Across Manor Park, a Christian prayer event for the area which was held at the Kingdom Life Chapel.
