This morning I visited the Newham Education Business Partnership who are working closely with schools in Newham to provide a link between education and business. I then went to West Ham Football Ground to attend the launch of the Safer Neighbourhoods Scheme along with the other Newham MPs. The Safer Neigbourhoods Scheme is a brilliant initiative where police officers are dedicated to finding innovative solutions to combat crime in their area. Later in the day, I met with Sergeant Darren Hepple, one of the Safer Neighbourhoods Team who patrols the streets on a mountain bike. In the afternoon, I visited Manor Park School to attend the book launch of a book of student's poems. At the launch, I was presented with a picture of East Ham Town Hall which is now displayed in my Ministerial Office.
