I began today by meeting with the Black Film Makers (BFM) where I learnt about the influential role that BFM has in the film industry. BFM are currently doing a lot of exciting work in East London including working on this summer's Annual International Film Festival. My second meeting of the day was with Wingham Rowan of Slivers of Time: an organisation aiming to link up employers up with people needing a flexible working pattern. Following that, I paid a visit to the Bromley-by-Bow Centre to express my support for The Water City Project. In the afternoon I visited Newham's Speakability Group and watched a film made by members of the group. Speakability is a support network for people with speech difficulties: the group raised with me their funding difficulties and personal needs. In the evening I attended the 'Excellence in Education' award ceremony where I celebrated the success of the children's academic achievements.
