After meeting with the Joe Duckworth, the Chief Executive of Newham Council, I attended the funeral of a good friend of mine, Mr Sankaran Pushpan. Mr Pushpan was a remarkable man. He was a fine example of someone, who, although not originally from Newham, took the Borough to his heart. After the funeral, I wrote about him, in my Newham Recorder column which you can read here.

Later in the day, I met with a business consultant who has worked on many local projects in Newham. She has built a number of strong relationships with a lot of businesses in the Borough and is currently working on exposing some of the shops on Green Street to businesses at Canary Wharf.  We discussed how local businesses in Newham can fully benefit from the 2012 Olympics.

I then attended an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) course run by the Adult Training Network. I held a surgery in Beckton Globe before travelling north to Ilford to meet Sonia Klein who will be the Labour candidate for the constituency of Ilford North at the next election.
