   30 June 2006
I began today by taking part in a Question and Answer session with pupils at Kingsford School. I was questioned along with Cllr Quintin Peppiatt about issues that the pupils had studied during their citizenship classes throughout the year. This was followed by a visit to Essex Primary school where I was presented with beautifully designed 'cut-out teachers' as part of the 'Send My Friend a Teacher' campaign. Pupils up and down the country have been handing these teachers to Politicians to raise awareness of the need for more teachers in poor countries. In the afternoon I visited Michael Johnson, Borough Commander of Newham Metropolitan Police to be briefed of the work of the Police in Newham. Later, I met with constituents at my regular surgery before heading to the Labour National Policy Forum.
