Today I visited the Guardian's Printing site which is based in Stratford. I was taken on a tour of the site and even received an advanced copy of the following day's paper! This was followed by a meeting with Nural Islam, President of the Arakan Rohingya National Organisation. Mr Islam raised with me his concerns about the appalling human rights abuses continuing in Burma. I have since written to Margaret Beckett, Foreign Secretary of State, raising with her the needs of the Rohingya people in the Western Province of Burma. Following this meeting I paid a visit to the Green Valley Foundation, who are doing excellent work with the French speaking African community. The work of the Green Valley Foundation includes teaching basic computer skills and providing assistance with job searching and writing CVs.
