I began my day by visiting Bromley by Bow Centre. The BBBC is a community organisation based in East London which works in some of the most deprived areas in the UK. During the visit, I met with their Chief Executive, Rob Trimble who told me about the work his organisation did in supporting families and helping people find employment.
Afterwards I met with representatives from the Zareem Foundation. The Foundation consists of 30 people who help Afghan and Asian women settle in East London. The Foundation were looking to run additional classes for children in the area - in disciplines such as multimedia and music – all of which would be provided free of charge. It was a pleasure to meet with the group.
Organisations such as the Bromley by Bow Centre and the Zareem Foundation do vital work in our communities and I thank them for their efforts.
After meeting with Alan Adams, Executive Director of Adults, Culture & Community, to discuss some projects in Newham, I met with a constituent who leads the Newham Friends of Shabura . They are an advocacy group for innocent civilians trapped in Shabura, Gaza. The group was set up last year and I was able to offer advice about how they could continue to grow and build on the relationships they had made with residents in East Ham.
I ended the day by having my regular advice surgery in the Town Hall. |
