My first meeting of today was with Malcolm James of Community Development Foundation (CDF). CDF is an organisation helping communities achieve greater control over the conditions affecting their lives. I then headed into Central London to speak at a conference hosted by Community Links entitled the 'Informal Economy'. In the afternoon I visited Pier Nursery, a Sure Start nursery in my constituency. It was encouraging to see the support that Pier Nursery is giving to both parents and children in Newham. I then visited Beckton's McDonald's store where I was given a tour of the store by the franchise owner. The ended finished with my regular constituency surgery.
