   1 April 2011

I began my day by meeting Zeenat Khan who is the founder of 3H’s, a Newham charity led by parents which aims to support families with disabled children.  For example, holidays can give families and carers some time to recharge their batteries.  I then met with several constituents at the Kitchen Table cafe on Barking Road.  At midday I met with husband and wife architects team Nick and Jane Edwards from Fundamental Architectural Inclusion.  Fundamental develops new ways for communities to participate in transforming their neighbourhood.

I spent most of the afternoon at my advice surgery at the Beckton Globe before attending a certificate presentation at the Women’s Business Centre later that evening, with Sheila Singh. Sheila has established a business which trains further education teachers, and the presentation was to some of her successful students.
